Facelift (Rhytidectomy)Aging of the face is inevitable. As the years go by the skin of the face and neck begins to loosen. The jaw line softens, jowls begin to form, and the “double chin” along with vertical folds begin to appear. Heredity, personal habits, and the pull of gravity, as well as sun exposure contribute to the aging of the face. Skin type, ethnicity, individual healing, bone structure and realistic expectations are all factors that need to be considered prior to facelift surgery. A facelift removes excess facial skin, sculpts the jaw and neckline and restores a more youthful appearance. Facelift ProcedureThere are different types of facelift procedures to suit each patients needs. Typically, incisions are hidden in the fold in front of and behind the ear into the hairline. The skin plus a deep tissue layer (SMAS) are pulled to eliminate wrinkles. This procedure is performed under general anesthesia in an accredited and licensed surgical facility. Facelifts are often performed in conjunction with blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) and chin liposuction. CO2 Laser Resurfacing or BOTOX injections, when performed in addition to a facelift, can enhance the rejuvenation results. Recovery from FaceliftA dressing is applied for a couple days following the procedure and sutures are usually removed during the second week. Patients usually stay overnight after facelift surgery and are discharged the next morning to a responsible party. You cannot drive yourself home after surgery. There may be mild bruising or discoloration for a week or two following surgery. Our esthetician will help you with camouflage make-up during the second week. Swelling may also occur and should resolve within the first few weeks. The incision lines usually heal extremely well. As with any surgical procedure, our staff will assist you in preparing to minimize swelling and bruising postoperatively. Making a DecisionThe decision to proceed with facelift surgery requires planning. We offer complimentary consultations to provide education, assistance in identifying the appropriate recommendation for each individual, computer imaging to communicate visually, and assistance with your financial investment. Please contact our patient consultant, Lisa DeGirolamo to schedule your complimentary visit. InvestmentThe cost of the procedure
varies depending on each individuals needs, but typically ranges from
$8,000 - $10,000.
