The LightSheer XC has a unique, special “long-pulse” mode. This feature allows the laser energy to be delivered more slowly, giving a greater degree of protection to skin with larger concentrations of melanin (Types 4-6: African-American, Hispanic, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, Indian subcontinent, Asian, etc.) This feature also allows laser use on people with suntanned skin! Laser Hair Removal Procedure

The light Sheer laser produces a beam of highly concentrated light energy. The melanin pigment located in the hair follicles absorbs the color of the light sheer laser. The laser pulses for a fraction of a second, just long enough to vaporize the pigment, disabling several follicles at a time to eliminate or significantly impede regrowth. Importantly, the ChillTip, a special contact-cooling hand piece allows laser energy to be directed to the hair root while protecting and cooling the surrounding skin for a greater degree of efficacy and comfort.

The procedure does require multiple treatments for each area treated. The treatment is offered in the doctor’s office and requires no down time. Patients may experience some redness following treatment, which resolves within the first day or two. Patients may resume normal activities immediately following treatment.
