Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is an intense exfoliation process that rejuvenates the skin by using fine corundum crystals to remove the upper layer of the skin. At the same time, the hand piece of the instrument contains a vacuum tube that sweeps up both the crystals and the skin’s cellular debris. This exfoliates the skin, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, which will result in firmer, more youthful looking skin over time with a series of treatments. This offers a less invasive treatment to chemical peels and CO2 laser resurfacing.

Age spots and fine lines are greatly diminished, acne scars can become less obvious, and many patients report that their skin feels softer, smoother, and younger-looking. Microdermabrasion Procedure

This procedure is performed in the office by a licensed aesthetician under the direct supervision of Dr. Sinha. With the aid of micro crystals vacuumed through a delicate hand piece, held at a precise angle to the skin. In as little as 45 minutes, this gentle abrasive technique efficiently produces satisfying results. Treatments are most effective when treated on a weekly basis. The procedure itself has been described like a “cat’s lick”, or a very fine buffing of the skin.

Recovery from Microdermabrasion

Mild redness can be expected for a couple of hours following treatment, however make-up can hide this very easily. No anesthetics or pain medication is required. The quick recovery has earned the procedure the nickname, “lunch-time peel”.
