Mid Face Lift
Mid face lift is a great way to lift and restore the middle of the face
Gravity is what causes the face to droop during the third decade of our lives, surrendering the full, plump mid-face that is synonymous with looking young. Part of this drooping is the result of sagging facial fat pads, structures that are located high in the cheeks and descend with age. A mid face lift is a great way to help lift and restore the middle of the face for a younger appearance.
Mid face lifts are often performed in conjunction with other surgical procedures, such as a blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), rhinoplasty, and chin liposuction. Additional facial cosmetic surgery procedures can enhance overall rejuvenation results when performed in combination with a mid facelift.
The Mid Face Lift Procedure
The mid face lift can be performed endoscopically (using a small device with a lighted camera attached), or may require slightly longer incisions to lift a larger area of the middle of the face. In either case, our doctors will ensure that all scars will be well hidden in the natural folds surrounding the ears and hairline. An endoscopic mid face lift is performed by placing a small incision (typically less than 2 cm) in the temple area, above the ear, and behind the hairline. An additional incision is placed inside the mouth. The sagging facial fat pad is then freed and elevated to a more youthful position and secured with special sutures.
The mid face lift procedure is performed under general anesthesia in an accredited and licensed ambulatory surgical center.
Recovery from a Mid Face Lift
Patients are usually discharged the same day of a mid face lift procedure. You cannot drive yourself home after any facelift surgery. A pressure dressing is applied for the first couple of days and sutures are usually removed one week post-op. Mild bruising, numbness and swelling sometimes occur and typically resolve within the first couple weeks.
Most patients return to normal activity within the first week following a mid face lift. The small incisions typically heal extremely well.
Consultations can determine whether a mid face lift is the ideal surgery for your needs, or if your facial aesthetic goals would be better served by another procedure.
